Merge and shrink PDFs without uploading them
Your files stay on your device. pdf.lol does the work inside this browser tab, so there's no upload, no account and no watermark.

How your files stay private
-
No uploadYour browser reads the PDF from your disk, rebuilds it in memory and saves the result. No server ever gets a copy.
-
Uploads are blockedThe page's security policy sets
connect-src 'none', which tells your browser to refuse any upload or data request from this page, ours included. -
No analytics or cookiesNo Google Analytics, no pixels, no cookie banner, because there's nothing to consent to.
-
Test it offlineLoad this page, turn off your Wi-Fi, then merge something. It still works, because nothing needs the internet.
Read every line on GitHub. The PDF work uses pdf-lib, an open-source library served from this domain.
Questions
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what's inside. pdf.lol shrinks the photos and scans in a PDF, so a scanned document or a photo-heavy file often drops by half or more. A PDF that's mostly text is already small and may barely change. Print-ready files from design apps often use CMYK color, and pdf.lol leaves those images untouched so the colors can't shift. If the copy isn't smaller, pdf.lol tells you to keep your original.
Does compressing hurt the text?
No. Text, vector drawings and fonts stay exactly as they were. Only images get resized and re-saved. "Best quality" keeps images large, "Smallest" shrinks them hard, which can look soft if you zoom in.
Is there a file size or page limit?
We don't set one. The limit is your device's memory. Big files (a few hundred MB) can be slow on a phone, and a laptop handles them better.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. If a PDF needs a password to open, pdf.lol tells you and leaves it alone.
What happens to bookmarks and form fields when I merge?
Pages, text, images and links carry over. The table-of-contents bookmarks from the original files don't, and fillable form fields can stop being fillable. Compressing keeps both.
