Merge and shrink PDFs without uploading them
Your files stay on your device. pdf.lol does the work inside this browser tab, so there's no upload, no account and no watermark.

How your files stay private
-
No uploadYour browser reads the PDF from your disk, does the work in memory and saves the result. No server ever gets a copy.
-
Locked to this siteThe page's security policy only lets it request files from pdf.lol itself, and pdf.lol is plain files with no server code to receive anything.
-
No analytics or cookiesNo Google Analytics, no pixels, no cookie banner, because there's nothing to consent to.
-
Test it offlineLoad a tool, drop in a PDF so it gets ready, turn off your Wi-Fi, then finish the job. It still works.
Read every line on GitHub. The PDF work uses pdf-lib and Mozilla's PDF.js, both served from this domain.
Questions
Is a PDF signed here legally binding?
pdf.lol stamps a picture of your signature onto the page, the same as printing, signing and scanning. It doesn't add a certified digital signature or an audit trail. Plenty of people accept a signed PDF like this, but if the other side asks you to use a specific e-signature service, use theirs. Your signature is never saved. Close the tab and it's gone.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what's inside. pdf.lol shrinks the photos and scans in a PDF, so a scanned document or a photo-heavy file often drops by half or more. A PDF that's mostly text is already small and may barely change. Print-ready files from design apps often use CMYK color, and pdf.lol leaves those images untouched so the colors can't shift. If the copy isn't smaller, pdf.lol tells you to keep your original.
Does compressing hurt the text?
No. Text, vector drawings and fonts stay exactly as they were. Only images get resized and re-saved. "Best quality" keeps images large, "Smallest" shrinks them hard, which can look soft if you zoom in.
Which sharpness should I pick for PDF to JPG?
Normal (150 DPI) looks good on screens and keeps files small. Pick Print (300 DPI) if the images are going to a printer. Very large pages, like posters, may get scaled down to fit what your browser can draw, and pdf.lol tells you when that happens.
Is there a file size or page limit?
We don't set one. The limit is your device's memory. Big files (a few hundred MB) can be slow on a phone, and a laptop handles them better.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. If a PDF needs a password to open, pdf.lol tells you and leaves it alone.
What happens to bookmarks and form fields when I merge or split?
Pages, text, images and links carry over. The table-of-contents bookmarks from the original files don't, and fillable form fields can stop being fillable. Compressing and signing keep both.
